WELL done to well known Waterford rider Madelaine Gervais who enjoyed a good win with her own Lady Estrella de la Pomme in a 1.40m class at Oliva last Saturday.

The win with ‘Bambi’ was all the sweeter as several mishaps saw Gervais getting off to a late start in the competition season, breaking her right hand before Christmas, although the enforced rest allowed the owner of Ballydavid House to enjoy the beauty of spring.

However, the mishaps were not over just yet.

“I was cycling on a bumpy/potholed road at night in Oliva and hit my coccyx. With six horses there, I could only ride very sparsely after that. Anyway, this lovely lady Estrella de la Pomme, alias Bambi, gave me a lovely end to the season when winning the 1.40 last Saturday,” reported Madelaine.
