WITH World Animal Week held from October 1st to 7th, the ISPCA asked all equine and pet lovers to be responsible where their animals’ welfare needs are concerned.
Generally, pets should be neutered and all dogs must be micro-chipped by law.
World Animal Week coincides with the feast day of St Francis of Assisi on October 4th, the patron saint of animals and the ISPCA’s #GiveThemAVoice campaign is an initiative to highlight the wonderful role horses and pets play in our lives.
ISPCA Public Relations Manager Carmel Murray said: “Each and every one of us can make a difference to improve animal welfare and during World Animal Week, there is no better time to give animals a voice. They cannot speak for themselves and World Animal Week is the perfect time to celebrate the wonderful role they play in our lives. Share a photograph or video of your animal(s) online using #GiveThemAVoice and #ISPCA. Follow us on Twitter @Ispca1 and Instagram @ispca_official so we can see your amazing contributions.”
People can help in so many ways including possibly rehoming a rescued animal, volunteering in your spare time or simply by making a donation to help the many animals in the ISPCA’s care.
As a charitable organisation, the ISPCA relies heavily on public support, enabling it to continue its work rescuing, rehabilitating and responsibly rehoming thousands of animals each year. Some 88% of ISPCA funding is received from public donations and legacies.
You can support the ISPCA during World Animal Week by texting ISPCA to 50300 to donate €4. Each text costs €4 and the ISPCA will receive a minimum of €3.25.
