Support Beth’s Charity Show

THERE will be some amazing prizes on offer at the eighth Beth’s Charity Show which, by kind permission of the Suarez family, takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, August 26th, at Portmore Equestrian Centre.

The jumping show, which is organised by Carrickfergus event rider Anita Doherty, will raise funds for a Beth, a brave and beautiful teenager who suffers from the neurological condition Friedrich’s Ataxia. Last year, the show raised roughly £5,000 which went towards a wet room, physiotherapy and a mattress which allows Beth to sleep through the night.

There will two arenas in operation. Arena 1 will stage competitions from 80cms up to 1.20m with some speed classes, two-phase classes and a two-fence challenge which will have a first prize of £100. Indoors, Arena 2 will cater for the less experienced horses/ponies and riders. As usual, members of Beth’s family will be selling home-baked goods, tea and coffee on the day.

At time of writing, sponsorship has been pledged by Mother Bee, Contraflex, Fiona Fitzgibbon, Dubarry Ireland, Johnny O’Connell, Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, Tullyraine Equine Clinic, Bluegrass Horse Feeds, Alison Baird, Horse Sitters NI, Evelyn Ferres, Rockvale Equestrian, Clonkeen Equestrian, Richard Nesbitt and Claire-Maria Currie.
