BALLYCOMMON Sponsored Ride (BSR) was started in 2011 by local landowners and the North Tipperary Foxhounds with the aim of raising funds for local charities with all money raised going directly to charity and benefiting the local community.

Five local charities are recipients of the sponsored ride and each year, the proceeds go towards one of the chosen charities.

This year Nenagh Special Summer Camp benefited from the event to the tune of €31,260. This brings the grand total raised to over €97,000 in the five-year history of the event.

The sponsored ride itself caters for different level of riders as we have three groups over three different courses. One group, Leisurely Hackers, can complete the ride where there is no jumping involved as the organisers believe it is important to cater for all level of riders.

BSR is the only ride that starts the event off with three puissance wall competitions (horse, pony and mini) and this creates a great atmosphere for the day ahead. The ride has grown in popularity each year as the numbers have gone from 124 participants in 2011 to 226 taking part in this year’s ride.
