AMONG the sponsors at the four Lightsource BP Tyrella events being run by the Northern Region this season are Tattersalls International Horse Trials who are providing vouchers for a draw among the volunteers.

Last Saturday’s winner of a voucher for admission for two on any day of the Co Meath event was one of the cross-country fence judges, Brian Ousby, while if it’s chilly at Tyrella next Saturday, and he is back in the role as cross-country starter, we can expect Verner Pledl to be wearing his new Tatts beanie.

One person not included in last week’s draw is regular fence judge Neville Brown.

Father of riders Daniel and Noah and husband of owner and cake maker Maureen, Neville only popped into Tyrella briefly early on Saturday afternoon before heading on to Ravenhill, as he still calls it, to see Ulster beat the Southern Kings, 33-19.

Luckily, regional secretary Dora Beacom wasn’t on the hunt for fence stewards today as Neville would again have had to stand aside as this afternoon he will supporting Ulster when they play Leinster in the Aviva Stadium (Lansdowne Road).
