Jockey win

CONOR McGovern, an 18-year-old former show jumper from Clones, Co Monaghan, won his first race as a professional jockey at Dundalk last Friday night. After the 10lb claiming apprentice had steered Slipper Orchid to a surprise success, his guv’nor Michael Halford said: “Conor is a good horseman and I’m delighted for him. He’s going to be a jump jockey and should do well at that game - he has plenty of show jumping experience.”

Hester deal

IRISH rug company Bucas has announced it will be supporting dressage star Carl Hester and his stable of top equine athletes. Hester is well acquainted with the rugs as his team mate and protégé Charlotte Dujardin has been dressing her horses (and dogs) in Bucas for the past two years.

Omagh RDA

THE Omagh Riding for the Disabled Group is hoping to raise vital funds at its first ever Pix and Mix Combined Training on October 25th at 10am. It will cost £10 to enter in phase one (dressage) and £5 to enter the second phase (jumping). and promises to be a great day out.
