IF anyone has a job that needs doing by someone stuck at home with restricted mobility for another month or so then Katie Nolan is the one to contact.

The Meath event rider worked in the advertisement department of The Irish Field for roughly a year (so we can vouch for her work ethic) after which, she went travelling in south east Asia for a few months before taking up a position in the United States with Kevin Babington.

Nolan returned home in January 2016 and, shortly afterwards, was contracted to work in Horse Sport Ireland’s coaching department. “It was great!” enthused Katie. “I learned a huge amount about coaching and, as I attended all the courses, got to meet some amazing people. I did my Level 1 and, when my contract was up, was doing my Level 2.

“Unfortunately, the week before my assessments, I fell awkwardly off a young horse at home and, whatever way I twisted, when I hit the ground I fractured my lumbar 2 vertebra and my coccyx was badly bruised. I was told that I would be out of action for 12 weeks. I am on the mend and will know more after my X-ray on November 7th. I can walk/potter around and I am doing an odd lesson with people but nothing much.”

We think she might, understandably, be going a bit stir crazy so if have a job that would tax Katie’s brain more than her back, she’d be happy to hear from you!
