IN a recent issue of The Irish Field, Pony Tales featured an appeal from the Dan and Sue Foley-managed Clonshire Equestrian Centre located in Adare, Co Limerick, who were looking for competitors to come and partake in a para show jumping competition.

The competition in question was held on the May Bank Holiday weekend. With the sun shining, it was a great day out and experience for all participating.

The results for the 80cms competition were as follows: the red ribbon for first place was awarded to Jess McKenna from Cork riding Abby, in second place was Eammon Leahy with his partner in crime Triston, third place lead to a tie result for riders Grainne Hallanan aboard Sid and Naomi Connell on Clonshire Sirus. Fourth place was awarded to John Tully on his horse Harlow and finally, fifth place went to Toby Bevins riding Clonshire Soprano. The next class was the one-metre competition. Jess McKenna again took the title for first place aboard her trusty bay Abby, with second place awarded to John Tully and the yellow ribbon for third went to Naomi Connell.

A wonderful day was had by all and Clonshire Equestrian Centre organisers are very eager to promote the growing sport of para showjumping to allow for more riders to become involved in the competition side of para show jumping.

The sky is the limit!
