SATURDAY, December 22nd marked a day with a difference on the County Limerick Foxhounds hunt card. Long term hunting fanatic and horseman John O’Keeffe held a charity lawn meet at his home in Ballingarry, Co Limerick.

The Christmas spirit was in full swing and welcomed a fantastic turnout with over 80 riders mounted and almost double the amount of followers on foot. Volunteers provided hot toddies and food was very plentiful!

Santa Claus even paid a visit to the meet and brought along the Liam McCarthy Cup which was won by the Limerick senior hurling team earlier in the year and also the West County Hotel Cup, won by the Limerick ladies junior football team, as John O’Keeffe is a very proud Limerick man and as fond of his GAA as he is hunting!

Between the cap and donation buckets, the event raised €7,000 which was donated to mid-western cancer charities and motor neuron disease charities.

A fantastic day of hunting was also had, with hounds hunting all day long and supporters were given a day out to remember.

The hunt would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of the meet, especially Mr O’Keeffe for his warm hospitality, and for everyone’s very kind donations.
