OVER 160 eager young riders were out on their ponies for the Wicklow Area IPS Spring Show last Saturday, over one of Johnnie Kyle’s legendary tracks.

A few thrills and a few spills later settled the score sheets to give Pippa Durham the Open Working Hunter Championship on Jim Delaney. Her reserve was the prolific Corries Jack in the Box with Tiggy Hancock on board.

Classes ran on until late evening with large entries across all categories and a social atmosphere as friends reconnected after the winter break.

Ridden classes were well supported in Ring 2. The SHP Championship was taken by Cruisin’ Jack ridden by Sadhbh O’Connor, with Darton’s Atom Man and Rianna Marnane in reserve. Melissa O’Connor’s Lucifer stood M&M champion, piloted by Jordan Murphy with Riceal Dunne’s Riverdale Countess in reserve.

The Wicklow area committee thanked everyone for coming, their judges and stewards for all their hard work and the Delahoyde family for the use of Marlton Stud.

Spruce Lodge is the location for the second Spring Show on Saturday, April 28th – with the amazing cross country facilities, it’s a show not to be missed!
