BEST wishes for a speedy recovery to Northern Region event rider Janie Cairns who has suffered an untimely injury just a few short weeks into the season.
“A young horse slipped and fell on me when I was riding him in the field late last week,” the Belfast native told Pony Tales on Monday. “I broke a load of bones in my foot and dislocated them and also broke my ankle. I had surgery at the weekend so am on the mend – it’s just going to take a wee while.
“I’m trying to sell my own Emperor Augustus mare, Kensington Empire, who was seventh and fifth in her two EI100 runs this season, while the girls in the yard are hacking the rest of them away and easing them down. That’s horses for you – one weekend I was winning at Tullylish (on Premier Charlie in the EI110 Open) and the next I’m having surgery!”
