THREE new RDS qualifiers are added to Charleville Show’s packed programme next month when the two-day show will take place from June 24th-25th.
Two side-saddle qualifiers, plus an opportunity to qualify for the RDS Breeders Championship, will attract Dublin hopefuls while there is the usual extensive range of classes on Saturday (ponies) and Sunday (horses). A number of Grand Prix young horse classes have also been slotted into it’s two-day schedule, which in the past saw future Rolex Kentucky prizewinners Ballynoe Castle RM and Super Socks BCF compete at.
Another feature at this year’s show, which will also see the hugely popular country and western singer Robert Mizzell perform at, is a new bank for the working hunter classes.
Entries for the show close on June 9th and forms can be downloaded from their website: www.charlevilleshow.com
Although their paths didn’t cross there, both Charleville Show secretary and Irish Horse World’s Susan Finnerty were both in Kentucky at the same time recently. Eleanor was visiting her daughter Kate, who lives in Paris, named in 1780 after the French capital.
Susan was there reporting on the Rolex Kentucky horse trials before returning, via Germany, in time for the Charleville Show launch last Friday.
Her sister, also Kate, lives in the Black Forest region about an hour away from Michael Jung’s base.
Plans are still up in the air to decide on a significant birthday trip for Kate, who doesn’t share Susan’s enthusiasm for flying, so a Rhine river cruise was suggested as a compromise!
