Last Saturday night, James Toner proposed to Aishling McGrath exactly six years after the happy couple first met at Cavan EC.

Their families and many friends are delighted for them as is everyone at Cavan EC who send their congratulations.

But that was not the end of the good stories at Cavan last weekend.

More excitement was to come when Johnnie Fitzpatrick, who celebrated an incredible record of competing 21 years in a row at the National Amateur Championships, won the AA Section in the Kingsland Grand Prix on Sunday.

There was a bit of a dramatic finish as he lost his balance after the last fence and fell off after the finish line but still claimed the victory to everyone’s delight.
