EQUINE health care in Co Carlow and its environs received a boost with the good news that experienced equine veterinary surgeons Aoife Byrne and her husband Peter have moved home from Britain to Aoife’s home base in Carlow.

The couple, both graduates from Budapest, have extensive hands-on equine experience gained over many years in top practice settings and are now setting up their own ambulatory equine vet practice in Co Carlow, B & B Equine Vets.

Side saddle hunting enthusiasts would also be familiar with Aoife’s exploits in the hunting field which includes taking part in the famed Dianas of the Chase side saddle race.

The connections to the equine world run deep in the Byrne household. Steeped in hunting and horses, the family’s connections goes back generations. Aoife’s sister, Sarah Kate, has built up a strong name as a stylist with well known presenter ITV Racing’s Francesca Cumani among her clients.

Meanwhile, their cousin Warren Byrne, based in Toronto, Canada is the founder and owner of CannaHorse whose products include Equilibrium Oral. Warren is passionate about drug-free equine sport and creating drug-free alternative treatments for horses. B & B Equine Vets will also be the Irish agents/distributors for CannaHorse’s hemp-derived cannabinoid products which are targeted at equine recovery from events, injuries and use in young horses.

In addition, CannaHorse recently established a strategic partnership with Ireland’s innovative and leading animal health and pharmaceutical manufacturers, Bimeda Animal Health, based in Dublin with a global reach.
