ONE of the main reasons why there are so many good riders from Waterford is largely down to Kilotteran Equitation Centre, which celebrated its 50th anniversary on Sunday.

Owned and run by Joan O’Mahony, the special day was celebrated by showcasing all things equestrian in the centre which has long been regarded by many as a jewel in the crown of the south-east region.

Special Olympic gold medallist John Deevy, who is Joan’s nephew, gave a demonstration while many of the centre’s riders gave a great musical ride display that was enjoyed by spectators.

Not to be outdone, the dog show proved to be a great hit, with all creatures great and small on display.
