CARNE Riding Club will travel to Lincolnshire showgrounds for the first time to compete at the upcoming British Riding Clubs National Championships.

The International Affairs Committee of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs (AIRC) confirmed the Carne team for next month’s big event. They will contest the NAF Senior Open Team and Individual Championship on Saturday, September 10th where they will meet some of the best riding clubs in Britain.

The Carne team includes Ann Lambert (Killinick Bouncer), Christina Kavanagh (Russelstown Bay Princess), Aisling Quinn (Try Time Diva) and Michael Butler (Thaddius Brown).

Benbulben Riding Club contested the championships last year, where they finished inside the top 10, while in 2010, Greenhills Riding Club became the first AIRC club to win a BRC team championship.

The chef d’equipe has also been confirmed as Leeanne O’Keeffe, who is also chairperson of the Wexford-based club.

AIRC chairman Tony Ennis said: “Carne Riding Club are excellent ambassadors for our Association and I know they will do their very best as they face some tough opposition in Britain. I wish them the very best of luck as they set out on this exciting adventure.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to gain some international experience and I hope they have a safe and enjoyable trip.”

The British Riding Clubs NAF National Championships take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September in Lincoln, England.
