AMONG the 300+ members of the Irish Pony Club who are competing this weekend at the Holmestead Minimus Championships in Co Kildare is Lara Field who is representing the Galway Mid County Branch with Dunmaster.

Last weekend, while her mother Marjorie Hardiman was competing at the Riding Club Festival in Mullingar as a member of the Tonabrockey club, Lara enjoyed some non-equestrian activities with her father Mark. These included a trip to Sunday’s Claregalway Show where 10-year-old Lara won the rare breed class with her Swiss Appenzeller who went on to be overall poultry champion.

Lara and Dunmaster will be competing in the 133cms section of the Sports Pony Challenge at Barnadown on Tuesday, July 10th. The rider’s sister Jane will also be in action at the Co Wexford venue having qualified two ponies for the Challenge including Creganna Belle on whom Marjorie won the working hunter championship at Mullingar on Sunday.
