ALL are most welcome to the RDS next Tuesday, April 16th, where James Wyse of the Irish Donkey Society will deliver a fascinating lecture on World War I, with free admission to the public.

As everyone knows, the Donkey Display by the IDS is one of the weekend highlights of the Show in the showing rings, last year, the crowds were huge as the role of the Irish donkey in World War One was fittingly celebrating in the centenary year of World War I.

Thousands of Irish donkeys, north and south, were shipped to Europe to help in the war, carrying supplies, medical equipment and food to the soldiers at the front. The RDS itself was a collection point for donkeys being sent off to the war in those years.

The talk by James is all part of the RDS Horse Show Writer In Residence which launched last week and we will be featured this new concept in next week’s paper.

Tuesday’s talk starts at 6.30pm in the Merrion Room so put the date and time in your diaries and phones and go along to this highly enjoyable event.
