OVER €4,000 was raised for MS Ireland last Saturday when 600 people turned out at Holmestead Saddlery in Kill, Co Kildare, for their MS Charity Day in aid of the late Rachel Holmes.

Amongst the many attractions during the fun day were therapy ponies Summer and Twinkle Toes with owner Samantha Hayes. The two adorable minis, who visit sick children in hospital to spread some cheer, performed their signature tricks throughout the day.

The crowd was serenaded by Elvis, aka Martin Rice, who also doubled as John Wayne! Face painting by Rachel Carson was very popular as were the amazing toasted Ulster Soda Farls, specially made by John Harkness, with over 400 devoured on the day. There was an amazing array of donated home baking and excellent raffle prizes.

Former Mayo GAA star and RTÉ commentator Ciaran McDonald came to Holmestead Saddlery with his family to support the day. The fun was so good that the staff found it hard to clear the shop at the end of the day.

Bill Holmes and all at Holmestead Saddlery wish to extend their thanks to all the sponsors on the day and to every person who came and supported this worthy cause.
