The charity trek, which begins this Sunday, June 15th, is in aid of three charities: Animal Heaven Animal Rescue, The Donegal Hospice and Forgotten Horses Ireland.

The pair have already raised €1,000 for their chosen charities and will use a combination of their own and borrowed horses for the long-distance ride.

Some of the horses will be rescue horses who have been rehabilitated by the charities.

“We want to show that these rescue horses can have a useful life and highlight the work being done by charities,” explained Esther.

Their aim is to reach Mizen Head in a fortnight with the help of a horse lorry for certain stretches where riding on the road would be unsafe.
