THERE was much cause for celebration for Co Down native Kieran King as he accepted the Northern Ireland Horse Breeder award as breeder of the Irish Sport Horse, Kings Best last Tuesday.

A 12-year-old gelding by Chamber and out of Garvey’s Girl, Kings Best boasts an impressive show jumping record, both at home and abroad. He started off his jumping career with Declan Mc Parland, and then progressed with Stephen McManus, jumping 1.20m tracks.

Under the command of John Floody he notched up a series of results in the Ulster Grand Prix league as well as recording a win in the 1.45m internationalspeed class at the Kilmeague International Horse Show. Campaigned by Gerard Clarke on the International circuit last year, the pair were placed at Millstreeet, Wiener Neustadt CSI**, Dunkerque CSI**,to name but a few. King’s Best is now jumping competitively at 1.35m with Conor McEneaney.
