MANY congratulations to Irish pony dressage rider Laura Dennehy who has just been named as the Young Sports Person of the Year in the Fermoy Area Sports and Community Awards.

This year Laura scooped the accolade after she represented Ireland on the Irish pony teams that competed in Aarhus, Vilhelmsborg, Roosendaal and was selected as part of Ireland’s first pony dressage Nations Cup team to qualify for the Hagen Future Champions CDIOP in Germany.

EXAMS

Despite having to sit her Junior Certificate exams, which coincided with Hagen in June, the talented young rider rose to both challenges, taking it all in her stride.

Laura sat English, Irish, Irish aural, Maths and Geography over the course of a few days in the Horses & Dreams/P.S.I. Events Offices Hagen, Niedersachsen, Germany.

A Dressage Ireland board member travelled to Germany, representing the Department of Education, to allow Laura complete her Junior Cert while she was representing Ireland at the Championships.
