AMONG the many eventing newcomers at Rosanna on Sunday was 11-week-old Ruby Wrynn who arrived into the world on December 31st, not a great day when it comes to underage sports, but a good time for her mother Melanie. Ruby, who shared her cross-country buggy at the Co Wicklow event with a Jack Russell, will be out again next Saturday at Tyrella where Melanie, who has been back in the saddle for nearly four weeks, hopes to compete on her new seven-year-old gelding, Ardeo Berlin. Neil, meanwhile, is due to partner the lovely Corland grey Clooney BZ.
The couple have been keeping their Ardeo Sport Horses Facebook page up to date with news of several successful graduates of their Enniskerry yard.
Ardeo Mermus Hill and Ardeo Porsche both finished on their dressage scores of 25 and 26 respectively at Ocala Hills Horse Trials in Florida recently, while Ardeo Moondance was in action at Rocking Horse.
Hopefully all those who met young Miss Wrynn for the first time on Sunday found themselves a bit richer during the week, having backed the right Ruby Walsh horses at Cheltenham.
