PORTMORE EC was the venue for the final of the Half Bred Horse Breeders Society three-year-old loose jumping championship where a large crowd turned out to view an impressive and talented group of horses.

The Society is grateful to Galway’s Richard Bourns who spared the time in his very busy schedule to judge this event. When being interviewed, Bourns stated that he was impressed by the overall standard and thought it likely that many of these horses would go on to compete at the highest level.

It was interesting to note that many of the same bloodlines repeated throughout the competition including Peter Pan being the sire of the second and sixth placed horses and the Cruising bloodline appearing in four of the winning entries.

Congratulations to the breeders and owners of the 28 horses who made it through from the many horses who competed in the qualifying rounds to go through to the final. This competition was set up to provide a shop window for three-year-olds and their breeders.

The winner was an outstanding colt by Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve, owned by Kerry Taggart. He gave an impressive performance and his future career will be watched with interest.
