TINAHELY Riding Club ran their annual Autumn Hunter Trials last Sunday and with over 100 competitors on the day, it certainly was a successful event.

The huge amount of work that has gone into the course over the past year to update the venue paid off and with a variety of options available, competitors were not disappointed.

The course, which sports over 100 fences inclusive of a water complex, corral, new banks, and many more combinations gave competitors a lot to think about but, thankfully, all seemed to tackle the course with ease. Riders varied from young aspiring pony clubbers to seasoned campaigners and the results very much reflected that by the end of the day.

FIRST PRIZE

While Alicia Devlin Byrne on her own Gem picked up the first prize in the open singles, Christine Keymer put up a great display to collect the second and fourth prize on her two horses Butterfly and Benjy.

open pairs

The open pairs went to local riders James Walsh, riding his own Rockview Flight, and Aine Dagg, riding Maria Dagg’s Clint. Dagg, just to add to the element of difficulty, rode around the open course side saddle, which attracted a lot of attention among the spectators.

It was also lovely to see some young local talent in the prizes with Rachel Byrne, riding Paulbeg Contender, finishing second in the novice singles and Jasper Kelly picking up the fifth spot in the novice pairs alongside Lucy Handcock.

Tinahely Riding Club thanked everyone who helped out on, and before the day for their help.
