Change of qualifier venue
IN a change to the scheduled venue, the third qualifier for the Knotts Bakery young event horse championships at Balmoral show will take place on Tuesday next, April 18th, at the Pele family’s Lisbane Farm outside Saintfield, just 10 minutes from the M1.
The dressage phase for both classes will be staged on grass and the jumping phase in the recently remodelled all-weather Derby Arena with its half-mile of all-weather track.

RUAS qualifier
LUSK’s Equestrian Centre is hosting a RUAS qualifier on April 25th and dressage trainer Anna Dangerfield is hosting a course the following day, bookings in advance.
Lusk’s EC are hosting their annual Pre-Balmoral May Day Show on May 1st with show classes, working hunter classes for ponies and horses.

Grennan course
Grennan Equestrian College will be running their full-time course from September to June and applications are now open.
First round interviews for a place on the course will be taking place on Saturday, May 27th 2017.
Allen riding high
BERTRAM Allen finished in second place individually in Thursday’s 1.55m jump-off class at the Global Champions Tour in Miami Beach, Florida. Riding Hector van d’Abdijhoeve, Allen jumped clear in round one, which doubled up as the opening round of the Global Champions League, to leave his team, Valkenswaard United, on zero faults and in pole position going into tonight’s second round. Allen’s teammate Alberto Zorzi also completed on a clear round for the team.
Against the clock, Allen guided Noel Delahunty’s 10-year-old stallion to a clear in 42.13 seconds to take the runner-up prize behind Switzerland’s Jane Richard Philips and Dieudonne de Guldenboom (0/0 40.86).
Stallion event
