FOR the second year running, Charlotte Moore of the Co Cavan Branch was crowned girls’ individual champion, winning the Sisk cup with 3,822 points.

This year, however, Moore was challenged all the way by her twin and fellow branch member, Olivia, who finished second on 3,768 points followed in third (3,698) by the aforementioned Erika Lowe of the South Westmeath Superstars.

Over the weekend, girls far outnumbered the boys but they too had a closely fought battle for individual honours, which was won by Sligo Club Stars’ Hugo Filan (3,640) ahead of Matthew Farrell of the Carlow Mavericks (3,554) and the Warrington White’s Sean Fitzpatrick (3,536).

The Filans – parents Liam and Patricia with their four children Hugo (12), 10-year-old Ellie who also competed at the Championships, Billy and Amber – were among many families who stayed at Punchestown over the weekend.

An all-round sports fanatic who plays Gaelic football and rugby and is also brilliant at table quizzes, Hugo will represent the Irish Pony Club at the upcoming Scottish Minimus Championships.
