First up was the Berney Bros team of Tom Berney, Tom Berney Jnr, Owen Ellis and Anne Marie Hennessy, who faced the Moyne team of Robert Hogg, Ger Hennessy and Robert Twiss (playing alternating chukkas), Jock Thompson, and Alice Twiss and Jennifer Healey (also alternating).

Tom Berney opened the scoring for Berney Bros and, late in the second chukka, Robert Hogg slipped the ball through the Berney Bros defences to equalise. The leg ended at one goal apiece. Next the Berney Bros team faced the Red Devils quartet of Nick Murphy, Stephen Power, Evan Power and Jason Brennan. Tom Berney Jnr was first to score but Stephen Power quickly equalised for the Red Devils. The Red Devils took the lead in the fourth chukka through another Power goal.

The Red Devils tight defending prevented numerous attempts on goal by Berney Bros but moments before the bell, Tom Berney managed to squeeze through an equaliser, giving a final score of 2-2.

Chukka five saw the Moyne team face the Red Devils in a very exciting and fast flowing game. Whilst the Red Devils appeared to have greater possession of the ball, Moyne’s Hogg opened the score for them. This was subsequently augmented by Robert Twiss and as soon as the ball went back into play, Thompson gave Moyne their third goal to win the chukka 3-0. In the last leg, The Red Devils made a concerted effort to claw their way back into the match but all their attempts were wide of the mark, while the shots by Hennessy and Healy were bang on target. Moyne took victory on an end score of 5-0, making them overall winners of the tournament, ahead of second-placed Berney Bros and The Red Devils in third.
