GREENHILLS Riding Club won the Connolly’s Red Mills sponsored team championship for the very first time, at the Association of Irish Riding Clubs national dressage championships, held at Mullingar EC last Sunday.

The winning team of Lianne O’Shea (Bento Van De Noordheuvel), Olwyn Butler (Santero), Helen Alexander (Chatsworth Lux) and Lorna Keogh (Killmac Z) accumulated a total of 431.42%. Two of their riders consistently scored over 70% during their morning and afternoon tests, with Lianne O’Shea achieving the highest score of 77.22%. Helen Alexander provided the next highest score of 72.24%

Border Counties, who previously won the team championship in 2013, were close behind in second, as Caroline McQuillan (Mr Browne IRE), Roisin Watt (Cloncaw Smartie), Emma McKenna (Mill Races Diamond) and Rosemary Bellew (Cloncaw Chief) all scored in the seventies in their afternoon tests. Watt, however, was the star performer for the team as the advanced primary rider, achieving the highest score in the championship of 78.33%.

Ashbrook took third place on 418.57%
