THE Northern Region of Dressage Ireland is counting down to its Summer Festival (August 29th and 30th) at the Portmore International Equestrian Centre where, during Saturday’s one-day show, Joan Adrian won both tests she contested with Goldwin.
Twice coming before Vida Tansey, Adrian and her nine-year-old Lord Of Loxely gelding topped the Junior Rider FEI Preliminary test on a score of 68%, ahead of Claire Sedgeman on Cloud Atlas (64), and the Junior Rider FEI team test on 67.27. Linda McIlwaine scored 62.58 on Beechmount Baxter to finish second.
Among some big margin winners on Saturday were Lisa Dundee on the Irish Sport Horse grey SJ Gentleman (by Figaro VD Heffinck) in the Preliminary (Category 3), Lisa Ferguson on the 11-year-old coloured gelding Larkin in the Novice (Category 1) and Camilla Manningham-Buller on the nine-year-old Irish Draught mare Dungar Quick Silver (by Fast Silver) in the Elementary (Category 2). All of these classes were judged by Ivor Harper.
Having comfortably won the Medium 61, Brenda Cull and the 12-year-old Walentino mare My Wanita were beaten into second (64.19%) in the Medium 75 by Jazmin Vollands riding Mo Chara Nua (67.70), her 13-year-old mare by Obelix.
Carolyn Mellor produced very similar tests in the Grand Prix with the 14-year-old Sandreo stallion VSH Beaulero and the nine-year-old Glock’s Voice gelding VSH Gouverneur M who placed first and second respectively on 65.54% and 65.22.
