A DELIGHTED Leonie O’Gorman won Thursday’s side saddle class at Balmoral Show on the eye-catching grey Redwood Silver Slipper.

The now seven-year-old, who was originally called in second, has been a regular visitor to the show since first produced in hand by David and Charlotte Kirkpatrick.

Bred by the late Des Noctor, Redwood Silver Slipper is by the thoroughbred Emperor Augustus out of the Candle King mare Castlehackett Belle. In winning here, Redwood Silver Slipper was turning the tables on a couple of eight-year-old chesnut geldings who had finished ahead of him last July in Dublin where he placed fifth. Amory McMahon partnered Helena Hennessy Ruane’s Cloneyhea Clancy (by Arthurs Gold) to place second on Thursday ahead of Antonia de Burgh’s RDS winner Gypsy Cobra Cruis (by Cobra).
