EDITOR of The Irish Field, Leo Powell, and Marie Crosse were elected to the roles of honorary president and vice president respectively at the annual general meeting of the Association of Irish Riding Clubs last Saturday.

Three candidates were nominated for the position of honorary president and after an election at the County Arms Hotel in Birr, Co. Offaly, the results were as follows:

Honorary President Election Result (February 9th 2019)

  • Fiona Furey: seven votes
  • Charles Maudlin: 14 votes
  • Leo Powell: 49 votes (elected)
  • Marie Crosse was confirmed elected as vice president after she was unopposed for the position.

    ENNIS RE-ELECTED

    Tony Ennis was re-elected as chair of the Board of Directors for another one-year term, while Thomas Daniels will serve as vice chairafter the Galway man was re-elected to the post for a second consecutive year.

    Lawrence Smyth was re-elected by the National Committee to serve another three-year term on the Board of Directors while Jan Musgrave filled the other available seat on the Board out of the five nominees who put their name forward on the ballot paper.

  • Lawrence Smyth: 16 votes (elected)
