THE National Ploughing Championships, Europe’s biggest outdoor event, will be held from September 19th-21st at Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
With some 1,700 exhibitors and over 300 competitions on offer, stretched out over almost two million feet of trade space, this year’s Ploughing Championships is on course to break further records.
The Irish Field will be in attendance, sharing a stand courtesy of Horse Racing Ireland so please stop by while our sister paper, The Irish Farmers’ Journal, will once again be pulling out all the stops with a massive stand that showcases the depth of the agricultural industry and will also have an impressive line up of expert speakers throughout the three days.
The total attendance figures for the 2016 Championship at the Tullamore venue came to a record-breaking 283,000, making it the most successful National Ploughing Championships in history.
NPA Managing Director Anna May McHugh said: “We are delighted to be staging the event in Screggan, Tullamore, again this year.”
The site has proved popular for several reasons including its central location and surrounding road and rail network. By and large most people travelled to the site with ease and the minimum of traffic delays.
