ONE rider delighted with her visit to last weekend’s Tattersalls July Show was Killinchy’s Kerry Finlay who, under the watchful eye of Richard Iggulden, partnered her own Shanbally Ronaldo to win the small ridden hunter class on Saturday morning. They also won the well-filled Ward Union Hunt novice working hunter class later that day.

Finlay has been enjoying an excellent season with the Tom McNamara-bred 10-year-old Glen Bar gelding as, after winning the small hunter championship at Balmoral, the combination finished second in their class at the Royal Highland Show to the multiple champion Ebony King.

Incidentally, that Aughabeg Patch gelding Ebony King was bred by Willie Shanahan who is mentioned elsewhere in this page.

Finlay is returning to the Dublin Horse Show this year with Shanbally Ronaldo having finished third there last year.

And, no doubt, she will be wearing the new boots she decided to treat herself to following her two wins on Saturday! The flat class was a qualifier for next year’s Royal International Horse Show.
