EASTERN Region Dressage had a very bust day last Saturday at Marlton Stud with over 130 entries judged by Dermot Cannon, Gertie Liekens- Schurman and Wouter Liekens.
Gertie and Wouter travelled over from their base in Spain to judge and Gertie also presented the prizes to the league winners. The show was the final of the summer league.
The Kilnamanagh Livery preliminary league was won by Heidi Slott Jorgenson with her own Cantos de Light. This combination was also second in the novice league. Heidi had a busy day and was also the category 3 winner of BD7 with Bluelake Valentine.
The novice league was kindly sponsored by Liz Daly and the clear winner was Daphne Lush with Millpoint Carnival. Daphne has just returned from a very successful trip to the UK where the pair had several wins. Also, just returned from a successful trip competing in the UK was Karen Bennet and her stallion Urco. This pair took the Chester Beatty Inn medium league and were second in the advanced league.
Mother and daughter team of Sonya McCormack and Laragh Byrne from Somerton Stud took home two leagues with Sonya winning the advanced and Laragh winning the Junior Trailblazers, sponsored by Dressage by Design. Laragh was one of the youngest riders competing on the day.
There also was a league for native Irish breeds, which was sponsored by Toorala Equine Performance and the Frayling family, and this went to Rebecca Payne with her Connemara pony Blackwood Dancer.
Eastern Region Dressage now has a little break from shows as riders prepare for the National Championships in Cavan at the end of the month.
