DESPITE the definite drop in temperature over the last few weeks, the Eastern Region has not seen any drop in entries for its dressage shows at Marlton Stud. Last Saturday, close to 130 entries were received.

Judges Donie McNamara, Patricia Creighton, Lynn Cassidy and Derval Diamond faced a busy day with 130 tests spaced out over three arenas. The famous show saying, “hurry up and wait”, seemed very appropriate on the day!

It was non-stop action from 9am at Marlton with the first class being the training introductory BD, won by Pamela Walsh and Lone Oak Lexi. Welcome To Dressage Preliminary BD saw Majella Gray and Statesman pick up a red rosette by placing first in the class. Class 3, the mini trailblazers introductory class, was won by Anna Boucher-Hayes on Waxwing Popover.

The junior trailblazers preliminary class was where the highest percentage of the day came from with Charlotte Mangan and West Joey scoring a whopping 85% and taking the red with 82% in the trailblazer novice class.

Lauren McKenna had a win in the preliminary category 1 class with Cloonacauneen Little Rebel, with David Freeney and Ballotelli winning the registered category 2 section.

Advanced Medium BD 85 saw Marguerite McSweeney win her third class of the day. Advanced Medium BD 91 was won by Barbara Delahoyde and her horse Rubina, while daughter Josephine Delahoyde took the honours in the Prix St Georges class on Let’s Go.

The Bluegrass winter league final, in conjunction with the fun Christmas show, will take place on December 2nd at Marlton Stud.
