The Wexford rider picked up a win, two seconds and a third in the four competitions. He began the CSI** event last Wednesday with a runner-up finish in the 1.35m with Wrangler II, before taking third place in the following day’s 1.40m with Wild Thing L.

Allen then had his best result at the d’Ornano Stadium with a win in Friday’s 1.40m speed class riding Wild Thing L, beating second-placed French rider Patrice Delaveau by almost two seconds.

Later the same day the positions were reversed when, jumping in torrential rain, Bertram Allen finished second with Wrangler II to Patrice Delaveau and Ornella Mail.
