WEXFORD Equestrian started their new Wednesday evening indoor jump cross league this week, being held in conjunction with the Killinick Harriers Hunt Club.

The league offers horses and ponies the challenge of entering an event that combines cross-country fences with rustic poles to create an indoor derby-type track at the Tomhaggard venue.

Orla Roche of Wexford Equestrian explained the classes run from 6pm onwards and start with 70cms followed by 80cms and 90cms. Costing €12 to enter, ponies and horses alike can enter on the night with no affiliation to any organisation required. “It is ideal to school green horses for eventing, or offer a fun event for those just wishing to get out midweek on the dark evenings,” said Roche.

All riders, over the age of 10, are welcome to compete. Gain Horse feeds have come on board as the main sponsors this year offering feed prizes for the eventual league and class winners at the final In December. The final will be hosted on Sunday, December 13th and will include the highly entertaining gate jumping class with a cash prize and perpetual trophy to the winners.
