THIS autumn marks a golden milestone for Ballindenisk, as the Co Cork venue celebrates 50 years of eventing. Since first opening its gates in 1974, Ballindenisk has earned a reputation as one of Ireland’s most well-known stages for the equestrian events, attracting world-class riders while remaining a cherished proving ground for Irish horses.
Taking place from the September 24th-28th, 2025, this anniversary edition is supported by NutriScience as title sponsor, ensuring the occasion will be marked in style. Riders and spectators alike can expect the trademark Ballindenisk atmosphere: a blend of top-level sport, warm hospitality and a proud tradition that stretches across generations.
Adding to the sense of history, this year will also see the debut of a Thoroughbred Challenge Class, run in association with Treo Eile and the Irish European Breeders’ Fund (EBF). The initiative aims to highlight the versatility and athleticism of the thoroughbred in eventing, offering a new showcase for ex-racehorses finding second careers in the sport. This is especially fitting to the venue as it hosts multiple point-to-points each year.
Peter Fell, organiser at Ballindenisk, reflected on the milestone: “It’s hard to believe that 50 years have passed since it all started here. Ballindenisk has always been about giving horses and riders opportunities, and we’re proud to celebrate the history while also looking forward to new initiatives. We’re thrilled to welcome NutriScience as title sponsor for such a special year.”
Faith Morris, Marketing and Web Specialist at Nutriscience, said: “NutriScience Equine Supplements are incredibly proud to be the title sponsors at the 50th Anniversary of Ballindenisk International Horse Trials. This milestone signifies five decades of dedication, growth and impact of Ballindenisk and the Fell family. This golden anniversary reflects not only the achievements of the past but also the continued promise of a strong and vibrant future. As a proud supporter, NutriScience are honoured to stand alongside Ballindenisk in marking this historic occasion.”
Entries are now open and the team at Ballindenisk looks forward to welcoming new and familiar faces through their gates. The organisers are appealing to visitors and competitors of Ballindenisk through the years to submit their memories and photos to ballindeniskinternational@gmail.com
