TREO Eile has partnered with the Irish Pony Club in an effort to reward those members who compete and care for thoroughbred horses. They are providing €3,000 in incentives across the disciplines, which they hope will provide encouragement to IPC members who are retraining racehorses and boost the participation of thoroughbreds in IPC events.

This partnership will support the IPC Thoroughbred Eventing League, which rewards the highest placed thoroughbreds at IPC events and hunter trials, as well as the IPC Thoroughbred Aftercare Award, which highlights the dedication and achievements of IPC members who provide second careers and excellent care to retired racehorses. It will also facilitate the recognition of the best dressage performances by thoroughbreds at the IPC Dressage Day and the IPC Festival through the provision of bursaries, and provide prizes for the best thoroughbred show jumpers at the IPC Festival and IPC Show jumping Classic Final.

Commenting on the announcement of the partnership, Treo Eile CEO Andrea Ryan said: “We are really encouraged by the number of thoroughbreds making a successful transition to equestrian careers. We are delighted to partner with the IPC and recognise its members who are retraining thoroughbreds and giving them wonderful opportunities to participate in Pony Club activities.”

To be eligible for prizes, thoroughbreds must be registered with Treo Eile and have a valid Weatherbys or equivalent racing authority passport. Further information is available on treoeile.com or from the Irish Pony Club office.

Separately to their partnership with the IPC, Treo Eile is inviting riders, coaches and the wider equestrian community to complete a short survey on perceptions of the thoroughbred and ex-racehorse within the sport horse industry. Participants need only take a few minutes and scan the QR code above to take part, and will be entered into a draw to win a Treo Eile goodie bag. The findings of the survey will help direct future Treo Eile funding, education and support where it is most needed.
