THOMASTOWN and District Riding Club (TT&D RC) will travel to Lamotte-Beuvron, France, later this month to represent Ireland at the prestigious World Club Team Show Jumping Tournament. The club was selected by the Association of Irish Riding Clubs (AIRC) to compete against top amateur clubs from around the world, including teams from the Bahamas, Cambodia, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, Taiwan, Venezuela, Yemen, Chile, and the host nation, France.
The team travelling includes riders Sean Cleary, Denise Loehmer, Louise Moran, and Sheena Holt, who will be accompanied by club secretary and chef d’equipe Gillian Hennessy and club chairperson Margaret Walsh. They will fly out next Friday, July 18th, and compete over three days at Parc Équestre Fédéral, which hosts many international events including the Generali Open de France.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our riders to represent our club, county, and country on the international stage,” said chairperson Margaret Walsh. “It is also a chance to meet and compete with amateur riders from across the globe in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.”
While TT&D RC has covered the majority of the costs involved, they received vital sponsorship from the AIRC, St. Canice’s Credit Union, O’Donnell Abu Loft, and Tynan Dairies.
