THE Dublin supreme hunter champion Raglan Road, who claimed the big showing title under PJ Casey, has been sold to Scotland. The champion is among a number of horses sold overseas following the 2025 showcase in Ballsbridge, always an important trading week for professional producers, breeders and owners.
John and Julia Crosbie bought the champion as an untouched two-year-old from the field of breeder Laurence Hanrahan and he will now go to the yard of James Munro and Russell Skelton in Scotland. “He has fabulous breeding and is bred to jump. He has already been popping around a 1m track,” Casey said of the champion, adding: “He will hopefully go to HOYS.”
The reserve champion Ballarin Rosalin is also sold to the UK, while so too is Brian Murphy’s reserve champion heavyweight BC Foxrock who was purchased by Jill Day, a well-known big supporter of Irish hunters, who was in Dublin herself last week.
The Gwen Scott-ridden working hunter champion and reserve champion middleweight hunter, the six-year-old Tul Na Rí, owned for Scott by Creeslough farrier John McDaid, has been sold.
As reported last week, the four and five-year-old Irish Draught performance winner Two Mile Nigel, and the four-year-old heavyweight winner Tulcon Hero have both been sold to The Netherlands. John van den Veen bought the latter after he was champion in Balmoral, but William McMahon held onto the ride until Dublin. Dermot Molloy’s Two Mile Nigel was sold to Brigitte Vonk who was ringside in Dublin to see him win.
