A GROUP of four Irish international show jumpers teamed up to have their first winner on the race track at Punchestown on Tuesday. Running in the famous colours used previously by John and Susan Magnier, La Fogata secured a win in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden for Magnier’s grandsons Tom and Max Wachman, who own the filly in partnership with Michael Duffy and Max O’Reilly Hyland.

The partnership bought the two-year-old filly, who was bred by Kilkenny’s Capital Stud, in Deauville last year. “It wasn’t our first winner, but it was the first with the lads,” Tom Wachman, who was in Punchestown to witness the success alongside O’Reilly Hyland, told Irish Horse World.

Unlike the Magnier-owned horses, La Fogata is not trained by Aidan O’Brien, or either of his sons, but by Ger Lyons. The filly by Mehmas went off at 3/1 and came from second-to-last to win by half a length under Colin Keane.
