THE Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock Show is set to welcome horse and pony enthusiasts from across the country on August 9th, with a packed programme catering for breeders, exhibitors, families and young riders.
The equine section promises something for everyone, featuring an extensive schedule of horse showing, Irish Draught, Connemara, family pony and miniature horse classes.
One of the highlights of the day will be the prestigious Glenwood Gold Medal Breeders’ Challenge for Mare and Foal, which continues to showcase excellence in Irish breeding and provides breeders with an opportunity to present quality mares and foals before expert judges.
For those wishing to compete, entries for all equine classes can be taken on the day, making it easy for exhibitors to take part in the wide range of competitions on offer. All equine rings will commence promptly at 10am, with competitors and spectators encouraged to arrive before 9.30am to enjoy a full day’s action.
Adding to the family atmosphere, one of the most anticipated attractions will be the Best Pony and Rider Fancy Dress competitions, where imagination, colour and creativity will be on full display, as young riders and their ponies compete in a fun-filled class that has become a favourite with visitors of all ages.
Chairperson of the Horse Section, Lindsay Graham of Shanbeg Sport Horses said: “The Equine Section is always one of the highlights of the Tullamore Show, bringing together breeders, exhibitors and families for a fantastic day’s competition and entertainment. We are particularly looking forward to welcoming competitors in our horse showing, Irish Draught, Connemara, family pony and miniature classes, as well as the Glenwood Gold Medal Breeders’ Challenge. The Fancy Dress competition is always a wonderful spectacle and adds great fun to the day for children and spectators alike.
