ANNOUNCED at the RDS Breeders’ Talk at the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show last Saturday was a $10,000 prize for the breeder of the gold medal-winning horse at next week’s FEI show jumping world championships in Aachen from Next Gen Professionals (NGP).
NGP, sponsors of the talk facilitated by Michael Doherty, is a mission-driven investment fund created to support the next generation of emerging professionals in the equestrian world. The model connects investors with riders in a mutually beneficial structure that offers returns for both parties. Investors make a one-time contribution into a diversified portfolio of high-potential horses purchased by the fund, and a board of directors carefully matches each horse with the rider.
Doherty is on the breeder advisory committee of the fund. At the moment, the riders are all based in America but among the first 10 horses bought by the fund was the Gerry Marron-bred Irish Sport Horse Kinmar Joey (Ganesh Hero Z x Aganix du Seigneur), produced in Ireland by Charlotte Smet.
