Star of the Month
CONGRATULATIONS to the Irish pony team who have been voted The Irish Field/Gain Equine Nutrition Star of the Month for April following their victory in the first leg of the FEI jumping Nations Cup Youth Series in Opglabbeek, Belgium. The team was Lily Tunney, Sam Widger, Cian McMunn, Charlie Flynn and Juliette McIntosh, led by the management team of Denis Flannelly and Liz Brennan.
Pony Nations Cup win
THE Irish pony show jumping team won the Nations Cup in Zuidwolde, The Netherlands, on Thursday. The Irish quartet of Charlie Flynn with HK Zena (ISH), Cian McMunn with Exodus Angies Rose, Ronan Gilvarry with Glor Tire Cruise (ISH) and Ruben Foley with Wineport Q Junior (ISH), finished on a zero score. Great Britain finished as runners-up on five faults, with Germany taking third spot on the podium with eight faults. Full report in next week’s edition.
Dartfield is back on calendar
EVENTING Ireland has announced a venue and date change for the upcoming Western region one-day event. Flowerhill 1, which was to run on Sunday, June 29th, has been replaced by Dartfield 1, to be run on Saturday, June 28th. Dartfield is located near Loughrea, Co Galway and the event will run at EI90 to EI110 levels.
Entries for Dartfield 1 open at 9am on Monday, June 9th. Dartfield will also run on Sunday, September 14th.

Kim Mullahey RIP
JOURNALIST Kim Mullahey sadly passed away on May 24th after a short illness. Kim was a former contributor to The Irish Field, reporting extensively on polo as well as contributing to the All-Ireland Polo Club newsletter. She was also a former freelance journalist with the Liffey Champion in Kildare. Originally from Chicago, Kim’s husband Peter died in 2024. She is lovingly missed by her son Brendan, brother Bryan, extended family and friends and those in the polo community. Reposing at Oliver Reilly’s Funeral Home, Leinster St, Maynooth (W23 V99E) on Tuesday (June 3rd) from 5pm - 8pm. Funeral mass at 11am on Wednesday, June 4th, at The Church of Our Lady’s Nativity, Leixlix, followed by cremation.
New Blazers huntsman
CHANGES in the hunting arrangement have been announced by The Galway Blazers Foxhounds. Mark Ollard will hunt the pack for the 2025/26 Season. Mark previously hunted the Westmeath Foxhounds, the Island Foxhounds, the North Tipperary Foxhounds and the Scarteen Hounds.Some changes to the Masters lineup have also been released. Ella Coffey will be senior master with Niall Earls, Mark Walsh and Jim Derwin joining the team.
