Connemara Pony Show entries open

ENTRIES are now open for the 2025 Connemara Pony Show in Clifden on itsplainsailing (itsplainsailing.com/org/cpsc). Entries for ridden classes must be made online and only one pony/rider combination may be entered per class. Ridden classes are restricted to 28 entries only. Entries for in-hand and working hunter classes can also be made via post to: Show Secretary, Connemara Chamber of Commerce, Platform 6, Galway Road, Clifden, Co Galway H71 VH51. Rotterdam LLN team

THE Irish senior show jumping team for the third leg of the Longines League of Nations in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on June 20th has been announced as Cian O’Connor, Tom Wachman, Bertram Allen and Seamus Hughes Kennedy. The quartet, who feature on this week’s Irish Horse World cover, were all part of the CSIO5* Nations Cup win in La Baule last weekend. Ireland won the opening round of the league in Abu Dhabi back in February, and finished fourth in Ocala in March.

Treo Eile partners with SJI

TREO Eile has announced a new partnership with Showjumping Ireland (SJI) for the 2025 season. With over €5,800 in total prizes, the 2025 campaign features dedicated thoroughbred prizes at the SJI Sports Member All-Ireland Final and throughout the SJI Summer Series. A new Thoroughbred Points Award will track performance throughout the season - from January 1st to November 1st. There is also a return of Thoroughbred prizes at Autumn Leagues, with a projected prize fund of approximately €4,500.

Collett leads Luhmühlen

LAURA Collett (GB) and London 52 lead the field after dressage in the Longines Luhmühlen CCI5*-L. This Holsteiner gelding by Landos delivered yet another stunning dressage test finishing Friday on 25.4 penalties. Declan Cullen is best of the Irish overnight with Seavaghan Ash (ISH by Glenhill Gold) on 38.3 for 31st while Robbie Kearns and Chance Encounter (ISH by Creevagh Grey Rebel) are 37th on 39.2. The third Irish combination, Alice Copithorne and Fort Arthur Little Dolly (ISH by West Coast Cavalier) lie in 45th on 44.1. Patrick Whelan is the sole Irish representative in the CCI4*-S and he lies 35th with Global Orchid (ISH by A Quidam M) on 41.0 and in 37th with Altitu (ISH by Orestus VDL) on 41.2.

HSI hiring project manager

HORSE Sport Ireland (HSI) has advertised for a project manager to lead the next stage of the HorseSource IT system rollout. The job description details the role as “an exciting, and challenging project management assignment for a skilled, experienced project manager who has experience of IT/CRM project management in a challenging timeframe”. The HorseSource system is built on Microsoft Dynamics and represents a major digital transformation for HSI.

HSI recently told The Irish Field that the migration of the Irish Horse Register (IHR) to the HorseSource platform is scheduled to go live at the end of June 2025.

BH Gringos Legacy

THE Irish-bred BH Gringos Legacy won the four-star Hamburg Derby Trial in Germany recently under Britain’s Guy Williams. The 10-year-old by Tullibards Bennys Legacy out of Gringos Colourfield by Colourfield, bred by Kieran Phelan of Badger Hill, Mountrath, Co Laois. Kieran celebrated his birthday this week and this result was the icing on the cake.
