Donal Callery voted Star of the Month

CONGRATULATIONS to Co Meath breeder Donal Callery, who was voted The Irish Field/Gain Equine Nutrition Star of the Month for October. Donal bred Brookfield Danny de Muze, who won the gold medal in the seven-year-olds at the WBFSH World Breeding Championships for young event horses at Le Lion d’Angers.

Joanne Jarden named on Aachen Ground Jury

IRELAND’s Level 4 FEI international eventing judge Joanne Jarden has been appointed as a member of the ground jury for the 2026 FEI Eventing World Championships in Aachen, Germany, which is the first team qualifier for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. Denmark’s Anne-Mette Binder will head up the Ground Jury with Italy’s Giuseppe Della Chiesa appointed cross-country course designer.

Treo Eile supporting AIRC

TREO Eile has announced an award for thoroughbreds working in riding centres approved by the Association of Irish Riding Establishments. Treo Eile are sponsoring a prize of €200 to give to a thoroughbred that is currently being used in an AIRE-approved Riding Centre. In order to be eligible for the prize, the horse must be registered with Treo Eile, have a Weatherbys (or equivalent thoroughbred studbook) passport and be actively used in lessons/treks.

PJ Watson Snr RIP

THE Connemara pony and showing community were saddened to hear of the passing of PJ Watson Snr from Rockfield, Drum, Athlone, Co Roscommon on Monday, November 17th. PJ passed away peacefully at UCHG surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Bridie, sons PJ, Cormac and Adrian, daughter-in-law Deirdre, grandson Tiernan, brothers Tony and Tom, sisters Rosie, Kathleen and Pauline, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
