HORSE Sport Ireland has responded to complaints about its new CapallÓir database, with some issues already fixed and others in the works.
CapallÓir was launched on HorseSource.ie in a beta-testing phase in October 2025 and HSI invited breeders, riders, owners, and administrators to try CapallÓir to share feedback including any glitches or inconsistencies.
Beta means the core functionality was live and fully usable, but the system still needed fine-tuning.
“We were delighted to receive valuable feedback from users and have continued to work on fine tuning the interface, based on this feedback,” a HSI spokesperson said.
“Development is ongoing and, while some fixes were easier rectified than others, we continue to develop the system.”
In reference to specific issues raised by Irish Field readers, HSI provided the following updates:
Performance missing from the damlines - Performance Data for all animals is going through development at present and should feature in CapallÓir’s next production release. When we have a more exact timeline, we will share this information with users and the equestrian community.
Timing out - After investigating, we have not found any issues, nor has this been reported to us by users. We will continue to monitor the system and be sure to investigate if timing out issues arise.
Progeny missing from damlines - This was possibly a complaint from early in the beta-testing phase, as there may have been a period after the initial launch where it was not displaying properly. This is not the case currently, although there is a different look and feel to this feature than with IHR Online, but damlines are visible.
Can’t see or screenshot full pedigree on mobile - The pedigree application was redesigned in the last month to improve layout and performance. Zoom in/out capabilities are there for when large amounts of ancestry data is returned, both on mobile and on desktop, as well as two different view types, vertical and horizontal. This has improved mobile usability.
Rebuild
“The New CapallÓir function was rebuilt from the ground up on our existing online portal to integrate with the new registration system,” the spokesperson said. “The IHR Online system it replaced had stale and invalid data and was no longer being updated, so needed to be replaced.
“We continue to add features such as performance data, which will be rolled out on the system shortly to enhance CapallÓir users’ experience and will be an invaluable tool for breeders.
“Again, we thank users for their feedback. This feedback has helped us fine tune the interface to the point where, when fully complete, [it] will be vastly improved on the old IHR Online system.”
