MINISTER for Agriculture Martin Heydon announced in the Dail on Tuesday that Horse Sport Ireland was successful in the public tender process for the delivery of studbook services. The DAFM awarded HSI a two-year contract with an option to extend on two further occasions, to provide services for the following studbooks: the Irish Sport Horse, Irish Sport Pony, Irish Draught, Irish Cob and Irish Part-bred Cob.

CEO of HSI Denis Duggan said: “Horse Sport Ireland is delighted to have again been successful in the tender process to operate studbook services for the Irish Sport Horse, Irish Sport Pony, Irish Draught, Irish Cob and Irish Part-bred Cob.

“We thank the Minister and the Department for awarding HSI this contract for these studbooks, which we have had the privilege of delivering for over 10 years now. The tender process is very rigorous and thorough, and I want to thank our hardworking team in HSI for their commitment during the application process and their continued work in managing our studbook services.

“For 2025, 98% of new foal registration applications with full DNA results received have been processed, as well as 99% of all other applications where the required information has been submitted. HSI will continue to strive to further improve our studbook and other services,” Duggan concluded.
